Publish time:2020-05-20     Reads:

May 14, according to the Economic Daily News, China Telecom today on the "use of 5G network or need to change SIM card" news response, China Telecom's existing 4G users do not need to change the card, as long as replaced with 5G cell phones can use 5G services in areas covered by 5G signal. China Telecom's 5G SA security-enhanced SIM card is mainly for industry applications with higher security enhancement requirements, such as smart manufacturing, vehicle networking, telemedicine, smart cities and other fields.微信图片_20200103103436.png

China Telecom previously released a white paper on 5G SA security-enhanced SIM cards, which presents basic functional requirements, architectural requirements, and technical requirements, detailing new 5G mobility management, user identity privacy protection, security authentication enhancement, GBA authentication, 5G access control, 5G USAT events, and other functions and corresponding application scenarios.

The white paper also points out that at this stage, users access the 5G network through 4G cards. The existing 4G cards lack the new features and new card files and services defined in the 5G standard, user identity data is transmitted in clear text during communication, and location information is not accurate enough, which can no longer meet the information and security requirements of the 5G network. With the in-depth expansion of 5G industry applications, it cannot go well with the requirements of various business developments, and users cannot enjoy the new experience and business services brought by 5G networks.
