June 30, according to foreign media reports, in the much-anticipated research and development of 5G technology, mainly Huawei, Qualcomm, Ericsson and other Chinese, American and European manufacturers are making strong investments and research and development, it is difficult to see the shadow of Japanese manufacturers.

However, the latest report of foreign media shows that the Japanese side has decided to allocate funds to support the research and development of mobile communication technologies such as 5G technology to enhance the competitiveness of Japanese companies in this field.


The foreign media said in the report that Japan is decided to provide 70 billion yen (equivalent to about 4.6 billion yuan, 650 million U.S. dollars) to support the object of the support is the Japanese communications companies and electronic equipment manufacturers.


Japan decided to provide 70 billion yen, mainly to support Japanese domestic enterprises, research and development of ultra-high speed, low latency 5G communication technology, as well as the next generation of mobile communication technology.


As for the source of funds, a concerned person revealed that Japan is decided to allocate 70 billion from the New Energy and Technology Development Agency's 110 billion yen fund, which was established through last year's supplementary budget.


Foreign media said in the report that NEC, Fujitsu and other companies, which may be selected as potential recipients of the support funds, will work on the development of the backbone network and the maintenance of base stations.
